Colonialism attempt gone wrong.

The US soldiers recently burnt copies of The Koran. Their excuse was that the soldier in question was not aware that it was the Holy Books. The Afghanistan people have since taken to the streets demanding the head of the perpetrator. Read more http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/21/us-afghanistan-korans-idUSTRE81K09T20120221

That is the sickest explanation ever. The Koran is clearly identifiable because it is written on its cover page like most books. Unless the soldier was blinded by something, this could not have been possible.

There is also claim that this bunch of soldiers had not received formal training about how to identify and treat Islamic religious material. I myself have never seen The Koran, let alone any form of training about anything to do with the religion, but I do not think I would need any of that to prevent me from burning their Holy Book. I would never burn any book I know nothing about. What’s mind boggling is the fact that they have been occupying Afghanistan for a close to a decade now and yet they tell us they cannot even “identify” The Koran. Such deliberate ignorance deserves an award, Ha! Ha!

Now I wonder if this is an isolated incident considering that there have been similar desecration of the holy book in the past by the US, like  in Pakistan (see more here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1398932/posts

The West might have succeeded in colonising and dominating Africa by, among other means, castigating indigenous African traditions and uplifting Western Christian traditions, but its high time they wake up, the same cannot happen in the Moslem world anytime soon. The Afghans would fight to their deaths to protect the Koran.

    1. I think its unfair to judge Islam by Christian standards as the two are worlds apart. Christianity teaches people to be humble, good, forgiving among other virtues. On the other hand, Islam teaches them to be passionate and zealous about their religion which they deem more valuable than their own lives. Their actions are therefore understandable. However the main point here is that this religion has enabled them to thwart foreign influence, 'colonialism' as i put it.
